Overview

C&L Aerospace is a global supplier of aircraft parts, components, and support services. The customer portal was designed to streamline how aviation customers search inventory, compare availability, manage orders, and interact with C&L's global supply network.

The platform needed to support a wide range of users—from purchasing managers and maintenance teams to aviation operators requiring rapid access to critical aircraft components. The challenge was balancing the complexity of aerospace inventory management with a user experience that remained efficient and approachable.

As Product Lead and UX Consultant, I helped define the platform structure, user workflows, search experience, and interface patterns across key areas of the portal.

The Challenge

Aircraft parts procurement presents unique challenges not found in traditional ecommerce platforms.

Users often search using part numbers, alternate parts, certifications, inventory conditions, exchange programs, and warehouse availability while operating under significant time and operational constraints.

The platform needed to:

  • Surface highly specialized inventory data

  • Support complex search and filtering workflows

  • Improve visibility into stock availability and alternates

  • Reduce friction in quoting and purchasing processes

  • Provide a scalable foundation for future portal capabilities
